Authors who publish in the Journal of Digital Pedagogy retain full copyright to their work. The copyright remains exclusively with the author(s) of the published material.
Author Rights
As the copyright holder, authors retain the following rights without restriction:
- Ownership Rights: Full and exclusive ownership of the copyright in their articles.
- Reuse Rights: The right to reuse any part of the published article in future works of their own, such as books, lectures, presentations, and course materials without permission from the Journal of Digital Pedagogy, provided appropriate acknowledgment of the first publication in the Journal is made.
- Distribution Rights: The right to reproduce, distribute, and display their work publicly through any media channels of their choosing.
- Derivative Works: The right to prepare derivative works based on the published article.
- Repository Rights: The right to archive both pre-print and post-print versions of their manuscript in institutional or subject-specific repositories (such as arXiv, bioRxiv, or university repositories).
- Translation Rights: The right to translate the work or authorize translations of the work.
- Patent and Trademark Rights: Any patent and trademark rights related to the content of the article.
Publication License
By submitting work to the Journal of Digital Pedagogy, authors grant the Journal a non-exclusive license to:
- Publish: Publish the article for the first time in the Journal of Digital Pedagogy.
- Distribute: Distribute the published article in the Journal’s electronic format (JDP follows a digital-only publication model).
- Archive: Archive the article in the Journal’s online archives and associated repositories (e.g. OpenAIRE, Zenodo).
- Index: Permit indexing of the article by relevant academic databases and search engines.
- Promote: Use the article in promotional materials for the Journal.
Attribution and Citation Requirements
When reusing or republishing their work, authors are expected to acknowledge its original publication in the Journal of Digital Pedagogy using the following format:
First published in the Journal of Digital Pedagogy, [Volume], [Issue], [Year], [Pages/Article ID], [DOI].
This information is available on the article’s webpage and on the pdf version.
Third-Party Use and Fair Use
For readers and third parties who wish to reuse content published in the Journal of Digital Pedagogy:
- Permission: Any substantial reuse, reproduction, or distribution of content from the Journal of Digital Pedagogy requires permission from the copyright holder (the author).
- Fair Use: Limited excerpts may be used without permission for purposes of commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching, or scholarship, as permitted under applicable copyright law principles of fair use or fair dealing.
- Citations: All uses of published content must include appropriate citation to both the author(s) and the Journal of Digital Pedagogy.
During the anonymous peer review process, reviewers are bound by confidentiality agreements and may not reproduce, distribute, or retain copies of submitted manuscripts. Copyright remains with authors throughout the review process.
Open Access Statement
The Journal of Digital Pedagogy is committed to open access principles while respecting authors’ rights. Articles are published immediately upon acceptance rather than in traditional volume/ issue cycles. This approach supports the journal’s commitment to rapid dissemination of research in the fast-evolving field of digital pedagogy.
Author Warranties
By submitting to the Journal of Digital Pedagogy, authors warrant that:
- Originality: The article is the author’s original work and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.
- Permissions: Any third-party content included in the article (including images, tables, data) has been used with appropriate permissions or falls under fair use provisions.
- Authorship: All listed authors have made significant contributions to the work and have approved the final version for submission.
- Exclusive Submission: The article is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere and has not been previously published (except as a preprint if disclosed).
Originality Statement: Authors must provide a formal statement declaring that the work is original, has not been previously published even in part, and has not been submitted for publication to another journal or conference, as required in the submission process.
Author Information: All listed authors must provide complete information including full name, email address, academic title, institutional affiliation, and academic profile links (ORCID preferred, or Thomson Researcher ID, Publons, Scopus, or Google Scholar) as specified in the submission guidelines.
AI Tool Acknowledgment: Authors must properly acknowledge any work in the manuscript that has been contributed by artificial intelligence tools, in accordance with the journal’s ethics policy.
Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
The Journal of Digital Pedagogy maintains a zero-tolerance plagiarism policy, including self-plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism detection scanning before content analysis. Any case of fraud or misconduct will result in immediate rejection of the submission.
Data Citation: Authors may be requested to provide raw data relevant to their paper for editorial review and must be prepared to provide public access to such data. Data must be cited using the same format as article, book, and web citations, with data citations included in the reference list.
Conflict of Interest: Authors may be required to provide disclosure of all relationships that could present a potential conflict of interest, as outlined in the journal’s ethics policy.
Publication Ethics
The Journal of Digital Pedagogy subscribes to the principles of publication ethics as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, or other breaches of publication ethics will be addressed according to COPE guidelines.

Policy Updates
The Journal of Digital Pedagogy reserves the right to update this copyright policy. Any significant changes will be announced on the Journal’s website, and the updated policy will apply to articles submitted after the announcement date.
