Submission Guidelines

The Journal of Digital Pedagogy accepts for publication original research articles, theoretical analyses, systematic reviews, and critical essays on topics in the field of digital pedagogy. Manuscripts may be submitted at any time throughout the year. The journal follows a continuous publication model — the date of publication coincides with the date of acceptance of the final text, and this determines the journal volume in which the article is included.

Language. The journal publishes articles in English. Preliminary article proposals may be submitted in French, Italian, or Romanian for an initial opinion regarding publication possibility.

Manuscript format. The journal has adopted a free format submission policy, enabling authors to submit their manuscript in whichever format they choose, as long as it is readable and understandable by editors and reviewers. The manuscript must contain: title, authors (surname, academic title, institutional affiliation, country), abstract, keywords, article content (including tables, graphs, images), and references in APA format.

The abstract should be concise, clear, and comprehensive, including the premise, main ideas, and important conclusions of the study. As a guideline, abstracts should be approximately 1,500 characters in length.

Manuscript submission

To propose an article for publication, send an email to editor@digital-pedagogy.eu with two attached files: the article and the author information.

(1) The article file must be in an editable format (preferably Microsoft Word or a compatible format).

(2) A separate file must accompany the article, containing information about each author: full name, email address, academic title, institution name, and a link to an academic profile (ORCiD preferred, or Thomson Researcher ID, Publons, Scopus, Google Scholar).

(3) Submissions must include a formal originality statement declaring that the work is original, has not been previously published (even in part), and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. This statement may be embedded in the submission email or submitted as a separate document. Acceptable formats include: [We, …names of the authors…, hereby declare that the submitted paper…] or [As the corresponding author, I certify that this manuscript…]

* The corresponding author is solely responsible for communicating with the journal and for managing communication between co-authors.

Declarations. All manuscripts should include, where applicable, the following statements placed after the conclusions and before the reference list: funding sources and grant numbers; conflicts of interest (or a statement that none exist); ethics approval and informed consent (for research involving human participants); data availability; author contributions; and acknowledgement of AI tool usage in accordance with the AI Policy.

Editorial process

Each manuscript undergoes a two-stage evaluation.

  1. Editorial review. Each article receives preliminary assessment by at least two editorial team members. Comprehensive plagiarism detection screening is performed before any content analysis, maintaining the journal’s zero-tolerance plagiarism policy (including self-plagiarism), as detailed in the Ethics Policy. Any case of fraud or misconduct results in immediate submission rejection.
  2. Peer review. If the article passes the editorial review, the text is anonymised and sent to two independent, external scholars for double-blind peer review.

    » JDP Peer Review Policy

Authors receive an initial editorial response (acceptance for peer review, desk rejection, or request for preliminary revisions) within a maximum of two weeks from submission. For manuscripts sent to peer review, the complete review process typically takes 5–10 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required.

During review, editorial teams may request revisions including content modifications, higher quality images, bibliography completion, or abstract revision before making final publication decisions. Requested revisions and subsequent re-assessment may prolong the overall timeline and could ultimately lead to rejection if the revised manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards.

Published articles display submission and acceptance dates.
